Misfit announced their second hybrid smartwatch since they've been operating under the Fossil brand. The Misfit Command is a hybrid smartwatch combining their excellent fitness tracking algorithms into a beautifully crafted timepiece for $149.99 USD.
Like other wearables from the company, the Misfit Command is able to automatically tracks steps, distance, calories, and light and restful sleep. Specific to this device however, is the ability to vibration for calls, text, app alerts, smart alarms and movement reminders. There is also a Smart button which allows you to play music, take a picture, and (somehow) help you find your phone. Also just like its other devices, the Misfit Command operates using a traditional watch battery, and is able to function for up to a year.
From a physical design perspective, this is easily Misfit's most stylishly crafted device, built with a stainless steel body and a satin aluminum face, 44mm in diameter and approximately 15mm thick. It is also customizable starting with 3 main finishes of, jet black, matte silver and rose tone blue, along with easily interchangeable straps.
Personally I prefer the concept of a hybrid smartwatch compared to a typical smartwatch for many reasons. For starters it looks more natural and elegant for all occassions. It performs its most basic function of telling the time at a glance without issue or additional complexity. There's no need to worry about screen brightness in bright sunlight conditions or battery usage when over utilizing apps or functions. An additional feature of the Misfit Command is that it can be submerged in water by up to 50 meters, something I don't currently expect with other smartwatches on the market. Having been satisfied with one of their previous products, I'm definitely considering getting a Misfit Command, what about you? Have you bought into the concept of any smartwatch in general? Or do you think it's just a fad that will eventually pass by? Leave a comment below.
